Alex Buono is an Oscar- and Emmy-nominated director, executive producer and writer working in television and commercials. After making hundreds of short films with the Saturday Night Live Film Unit, he went on to direct or co-direct every episode of Documentary Now! across its four seasons.

He was directing producer and executive producer of Russian Doll’s second season and pilot director, directing producer and executive producer of Based on a True Story. His work also includes Detroiters, Adults, The Audacity, Mayfair Witches and I Love LA, alongside writing studio pilots for Netflix, Sony and Universal.

His work has earned three Emmy nominations, a Cannes Silver Lion and a Clio Award.
